Least Favorite

For National Poetry Month

At dinner each night,
we go around the table:
most favorite.
least favorite.
I went first:
least favorite, a shattered cell phone.

As we went around the table,
the answer was the same:
the phone, the phone, the phone.

It’s a sign of love
when loved ones
share your least favorite.
And it’s a good day
when your children’s only complaint
is a thing that fractured
with a crunch
but is fixable,
cured by UPS
and its standard two-day delivery.

Chance of our remembering to try this most favorite/least favorite thing: 40%.
